FAQ’S

General:

Q: Do you have any age restrictions?
A: No we don’t, but for infants under 1 year we do ask that you first speak with your GP, as sometimes the altitude/elevation can affect very young ears.

Q: Do you provide transport to your base?
A: We offer complimentary transfers to/from our Mt Cook Airport base, from Mt Cook Village accommodation.

Q: Do your flights have set departure times?
A: All our scenic flights and A2O transfers are booked subject to demand. We will confirm your flight time with you when you book.

Q: How long do we get to spend at the helicopter landings?
A: On our Mt Cook scenic flights you will normally have 10-15 minutes at the landing site. This gives you time to take in the scenery and take some photos (snowballs are options)! Landing times are dependent on weather conditions.

Payment/Cancellation:

Q: Are your prices in NZD?
A: All prices detailed on our Mt Cook Helicopter website are in NZD and include GST

Q: Do you take payment when the booking is confirmed?
A: All Mt Cook helicopter flights are subject to weather on the day. For this reason full payment is only taken when you check in for your flight. We do however require credit card details at the time of booking to secure your booking.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Should you be unable to fly due to weather conditions there will be no charge. We will endeavour to move your reservation to the next available day. For client cancellations within 48 hours prior to departure there will be a 50% charge.

Q: What if the weather is not good on the day for our scenic flight?
A: We will make a weather call to all clients on the day of your flight, should weather dictate that we are unable to complete your chosen trip we will offer to take you on an alternative flight if it is suitable, or move your booking to the next available day and time.

Helicopter Information:

Q: Are your helicopter flights private or will we have to share with others?
A: All standard scenic flights on our website are open to the public and bookings are combined as they are booked.  If you do want to book any of these scenic flights as a private flight you will be required to pay for the following: 3 seats in our EC120 helicopters or 5 seats in our AS350 Squirrel for us to guarantee this.

Q: Do we get a window seat?
A: This depends on how many people there are on your helicopter flight. We do encourage all clients to swap around seats after the landings so everyone gets a chance at a window seat and a different perspective.

Q: Can we pick where we sit in the helicopter?
A: For safety reasons all seating is subject to weight and balance of the helicopter. When weights are advised and a seat preference is also advised we will confirm at that time if possible.

Dietary Needs:

Q: What is served on a picnic flight?
A: Our heli picnic is a delicious antipasto platter including a selection of meats, cheese, dips, crackers, fruit and sweet treats. This is paired with either wine, bubbles or NZ beer.

Q: Can my food allergies/dietary requirements be accommodated on a picnic flight?
A: We can usually accommodate most dietary requirements. If you have a severe food allergy however we would recommend that you organise your own picnic for that person/s. We cannot guarantee that certain foods would not come in to contact with your picnic platter while it is being made. We would also ask you to carry an EpiPen if you have a severe food allergy and inform staff at Heliworks before you fly.
